I’m back, baby!!

So, after two abysmal weeks of marathon training, I had a pretty sweet comeback this week. My long run was difficult, but doable and while it was ‘only’ 10 miles, I was having lots of stomach issues and didn’t eat nearly enough beforehand, so the fact that I finished was good enough for me. I’m still nervous to see how everything will work out, but it feels good to have a more on-track week.

Other milestones this week? I ran 5 days, swam 5 days (sort of…Friday was a fun day working on flip turns…I probably only swam 200 yards at the most) and only had one day off this week. It’s a lot for an nonathletic person like myself, but it’s doable and gives me hope that this whole marathon thing will work out.

Monday: Ran 4 miles on the treadmill (speed work)

Tuesday: Swam 750 yards at lunch, ran 4.5 miles after work

Wednesday: Swam 750 yards at lunch, ran 2.5 on the treadmill after work (more speed work) I almost skipped running today because I was tired, but got home and had a surge of energy, so I hightailed my butt to the gym.

Thursday: Swam 750 yards at lunch, ran 4.5 after work

Friday: Fun pool day – attempted to master the flip turn. Am getting there. Got off work early and came home and crashed. I took a 3 hour nap and slept for 11 hours that night. I was tired (clearly.)

Saturday: Ran 4 miles (treadmill speed work) I almost skipped because of my stomach, but I called my mom just as she was getting ready to go to the gym and she invited me. I figured it might help, and it did.

Sunday: Ran 10 miles at a slow pace and swam 750 very slow, very zen, yards afterwards. I felt really hungry and dehydrated during my run, but I was so afraid to eat much with how I had been feeling. I almost pushed through and ran more, but decided it was probably a dumb idea. I honestly had no gas left in the tank by the end. Hopefully I can get my stomach to cooperate this week.

Weekly total: 29.5 miles (darn! I should have thrown in an extra 1/2 mile somewhere.)
