Week 2, day 2 – CM training

Don’t worry – I don’t necessarily plan to recap every single day of training, but my brain is fried and I can’t think of a more creative title.

I completed another lunchtime run today and it was awesome. I felt strong, despite the midday sun and heat. I wouldn’t classify it as the best run ever, but runs like this remind me WHY I love running so much. I’ve been out of the habit of running during my lunch break and while I hate spending the next few hours feeling gross, it feels so good to get the run done and out of the way (plus, we’ve been having strong winds in the afternoon/evening, so getting it over with earlier is even better.)

I know I won’t continue to run everyday at lunch, but I’ll likely start running one to two days a week during my lunch break so that I can free up my evenings for weights/swimming/other cross training. I can’t really do any speed work at lunch, so it will likely be my two ‘easy’ run days.

I’m pretty excited about training right now – maybe it’s just the honeymoon phase (though, I’m not sure I ever felt this way before.) Whatever the case, I’m GLAD I’m excited, because the next 17.5 weeks are going to FLY by and the marathon will be here before I know it.

Off to workout number 2 of the day – swim time! (and by swim, I mean, try not to flail all over the pool time.)
