I’m pretty sure this post will be as exciting as watching paint dry to everyone but me, but since marathon training is on the horizon and I’m trying to really focus on building a 6-12 month emergency fund, I thought a weekly summary would be helpful to me (either that, or it will serve as a reminder that I failed at life if I stop running and/or fritter my emergency fund away.)
Running/working out: I managed to get 2 evening runs in (my 2.5 mile loop) and in lieu of an actual gym workout, I did some weights and mild cardio while watching The Bachelor (thank God the finale is tonight…I’m ashamed that I got sucked in this season in the first place. Unfortunately, I will likely also be sucked into the next season.) I skipped working out on Thursday (I had dental work done, the last thing I wanted to do was workout…as much as I love potentially drooling on myself in public and all.) Friday I grudgingly did my elliptical interval workout. Saturday and Sunday were a combo of lazy/busy/boozy, so no weekend workouts here.
So, all-in-all, I could have been more consistent, but I almost chickened out of running all together…I kept trying to reason that I’d really get started after the time change. However, I gave myself a ‘suck-it-up-buttercup’ pep-talk and ran in the dark anyway. I don’t know what on earth I was so afraid of…I used to run in the dark all the time in LA with minimal issues. In the end, I’m so, so glad I did. Official training doesn’t start for a two more months, but now is pretty critical too since I need a good base to start with.
Not sure what this week will hold, but my goal is to workout at least 4 times (hopefully 5) with at least 3-4 of those as runs. Really, no reason that can’t happen. Hopefully I’ll do more weights and stretching…but I’m more concerned about getting my runs in.
Finances: I was hoping to put $1000 in my e-fund last week. That didn’t happen…but I did manage to put $850 in. As much as I would have loved to hit my planned milestone, it just wasn’t going to happen this pay period. If all goes as planned, it should happen next week.
I didn’t spend too much last week, but that’s also because I didn’t go grocery shopping at all, nor did I make any ‘whoo-hoo!!! it’s payday!!!!’ purchases. That being said, I’ll have a fairly big grocery trip today and I really need to get my daily/weekly lunch/coffee spending down. The thing is, on days I pack my lunch, I almost never eat it and end up going out…so I just kind of gave up and stopped packing lunch. Usually my ‘going out’ purchases are about $5-6 and I only travel to work 4 days a week (have 1 work-at-home day) so it’s really not too bad…but still an area to improve on.
So…there you have it. Again, I’m pretty sure this information is only important to me…but it feels good to have a log of it. Time to change out of pj pants and into something more acceptable…like yoga pants!
